CIH 1660 - header oil pressure relay

The circuit I will be testing tomorrow contains a switch and something called the "header oil pressure relay". Does anyone know where this relay is located on the combine? Just anticipating in case I need to run a continuity check. Thanks!
 
That is the switch that stops the relay if the oil pressure drops. Go that one! But thanks! Need to find the relay.
 
It would be nice if all these things were laid out in the manual, wouldn't it?! Gleaner used to have each circuit drawn out separately.
This is just a guess- I wonder if your "relay" is one of the many solenoids on the valve stack? I assume you have a valve stack similar to mine. I had assumed one of them was a "master" solenoid. So far, I haven't had to find out!
 
Should be able to follow the wires back from that switch to the relay---may or may not be on the valve stack, but that's where I would look first.

The purpose of the sender and relay is to deactivate the hydraulic controls while the engine is not running, for instance to prevent someone messing around in the cab and dropping the header on someone (not that they should be under it anyway, without the safety stops in place)!

I would look for the relay in the electrical area near the batteries, or in the RH control console. There's a whole SLEW of relays in there, plus circuit breakers.

I didn't read far enough back to find out what problem you are having, but I'm gonna GUESS the electric-over-hydraulic controls don't work?

If that is is case, try jumpering battery voltage to the common "power" side of the switches, and, if the hydraulics then work, trace backwards to figure out why there's no power to the hydraulic controls. Must be a fuse or breaker in the circuit, as well.
 
OK, so it's definitely a relay. I just looked on my late 1660(Cummins) and there's a relay hanging on a frame piece at the back end of the engine, under the front fold up cover/step. It's a big old round one like on my truck firewall.
 
I'm sure they are...in the service manual. That particular set of manuals is very pricey so I have to rely on the very kind assistance of my service guy.

I don't know why I asked this question because I know perfectly well that relays on the IH 1660 are located in the console area directly below the fuse block and against the wall of the grain tank. There is 6-8 of them there and I had to work on one last summer so I knew that...but just forgot. So yesterday I went to an auction but today I am back at it...and here is what I did.

I had to have this engine worked on this Spring and, unfortunately, hired an idiot to do it. He had parts left over and no idea what to do with them. These parts were the oil light sender, oil gauge sender and the hydraulic switch. The brass T that two of these screw into was broken off at the adapter and, most likely to hide this fact, the adapter was "lost". A plug was put in the block where the adapter would go, the gauge sender was screwed in but shorted. The other two were attached to random wires and allowed to hang down on the side of the engine. So it was left to me to fix this.

I was able to repair the oil gauge and sender by finding the short and repairing.

Unbelievably, I have TWO brass CIH T's in my parts drawer and I bought a new adapter. Today I removed the plug and installed the adapter and T in the block, then installed the oil light sender and hydraulic switch. I now have BOTH a working oil gauge and a working oil warning lamp. The hydraulic switch did not function. I know it works but I do not have it hooked up properly. Tomorrow I will go out and check continuity from Fuse #11 to the switch, then across the switch, and then try to find the correct wire to the relay and make sure that is not damaged. Once I have that done, the oil pressure safeguards should all be functioning. Hopefully finding which relay is the correct relay won't be too hard.
