I have a friend that purchased a real nice 6600 but it has starting issues. He said the electric pump in the tank seems to be working but it acts like its not getting fuel. Any ideas? I assume this engine has a roosamaster injection pump. Thanks in advance!

Well if it's like the 4400 that electric fuel pump is under the fuel tank just past the sediment bowl. That bowl screen might be getting clogged up and letting the pump get fuel, It would be easy enough to check if it's the problem. Bandit

My 4420 does that occasionally. The sediment bowl and screen are plugged and starving the lift pump of fuel.
After cleaning and you have placed the bowl back on the tank, turn the fuel on and loosen the nut that holds the glass bowl on the tank. This allows the air to escape and the bowl can fill with fuel. When the fuel starts to run out, tighten the nut until the fuel stops. I have to do this every year with my machine. Not getting fuel to the injector pump will eventually ruin it.....don't ask me how I know this.

Had the same problem with my 4400. Would be running fine and start losing power, shut it off, clean the sediment bowl screen and got the power back.

Sounds like the sediment screen is plugged. Don't let the fuel get below a 1/4 tank and it will also help keep it running. I know that sounds odd, but every time I ever had the screen plug my fuel guage was in the red.

Thanks all!! His corn is still 17% and he doesn't want to get docked so he is waiting it out! We will check the screen and see if that helps!
