2015 Harvest is all done

About a week ago I finished up the last of my soybeans for the year and went up the road to do my neighbor beans for him. The old JD 95 Corn Special did a great job this year and I cant complain about it. Before starting this year I found I had a bad unloading auger belt so it got replaced then I managed to tare off the crop divider off on the left side of the head. No problem I have another set of big dividers so I put them on after doing this while greasing and oiling her up I found a bad bearing on the back straw walker crank behind the gas tank had gone out, I had the bearing but is it a big pain to change but I got it changed. And the finial quick fix was the steel power steering line got a pin hole so it got fixed with a piece of fuel line and 3 hose clamps, Easy to fix. When I started to cut the neighbor beans the flouting cutter bar started to shake bad to the point I had to stop to see what was wrong with it. It just looked like the cycle was out of time with the guards for some reason. Well I found I had broken the stablelizer bar that goes from the cutter bar to the head and it broke the pin off at the head. Take it off and weld it at the neighbors house put it back on and back to cutting good again and I finished his up that night. This was just a normal cutting season just like everybody else has.

All and all it was a good year for beans even if we had 2 months of wet weather after they were planted. All my beans made from 38 to 55 bu and acre and averaged out at 46 bu an acre so not a bad year. Well it's all over now and it's time to get everything put up for the winter that's coming. I wish I knew how to post a link to YouTube so you guy's could see some of the videos I took this fall of the old JD 95 doing her thing in the field. If you want go to YouTube and look for my channel Bandit farmer and you can see them. I know Fixerupper and DeltaRed and lots more would love to see them. I still have a lot to learn on this computer stuff so if you know how post a link so everyone can see them cause I sure don't know now. Bandit

Good for the old 95! I saw some of your videos earlier. Liked em! Thanks. BTW,my 95 is patently waiting for corn to dry.

Thanks Steve I'm glad you like them, I noticed there were very few videos of the old 95 out working in the field so I made some to add to what's out there. I think you better try some and check the moisture that way you and the combine can settle your nerves. Post some pictures when you start, Cant wait to see them. Bandit

There were a few days there that in the late afternoon the air got real still and the dust would just hang in the air and around the combine. The first day started real nice and as the day wore on it got windy witch was nice sense I was going from N to S and the wind was blowing from the W blowing to the E so no dust. The day I did the video of the JD 95 Cab Riding Dirty it was late in the evening when the air got still lot's of shadows and sun glare and thick ragweed made for really tough going trying to see what was going on and dusty as all get out. Everyday I washed the cab windows inside and out and by the end of the day it looked like I had never done it. One of these day I'm going to tighten the cab up and put a better air filter on the combine to try to keep the dust down in the cab. I think I'll have time to do that sometime this winter. Bandit

I have had my few soybeans done for a while and have been trying to get the corn done. Same problem always, waiting for the hauler to bring me a truck. I am using a JD 6620 Titan 2 and have not had a great deal of trouble with it so far this season but there is still plenty of time. Happy farming.

Bandit, Glad to see you have another successful harvest in the bin! As you know things could have been much worse int he breakdown area but that sounds like a doable season to me,,, next year you may only adjust a few things and zero issues,, Thank you for the harvest stories you share,,,

and I am going to look for the vids,,, I may know how to add them,,

Guys around here have the same problem getting grain away from the combine, Not enough trucks to go around. My cousin hauls grain and he is having a hard time trying to keep up with combines in the field and even hauling his own corn out of the field. It's good to hear your having a good harvest without problems but just don't get in a hurry and be safe. Oh we need pictures ! Bandit

Cool. I don't think I have ever been able to go a hole harvest without something going wrong or having a brake down, I would not know how to act if something didn't go wrong. It just wouldn't be right if you know what I mean. Thanks and I hope you find them and you enjoy them. Bandit

Yup they are working good ! I'm sure glad someone out there is smarter than me with this computer stuff. I can do a lot but there are things I still have to figure out how to do. But I am glad that people like to watch there's old combines still out working out in the field and still doing a good job. Thanks for posting the link I really appreciate that and now others can see them too. Bandit

I was really surprised they did as good as they did with all the crazy weather we had this year. I am not going to complain one bit with them at all. I know what you mean about being done, It is a great feeling to be done and it now behind me and waiting for next year and I hope it's even better. Bandit
