Help me on knife inspection

Have a 218 grain head for several years. Starting to cut sloppy and leave some. Looking at what to do for next year. The knife sections look worn, but how to tell if gaurds and wear plates are needed? Better to buy a new knife or replace all the blades?

These are bolt in sections and have the "hollow" knife sections.

The sections are worn out along with your guards. Replace them and it will cut like new. Get the wear plates too.

Remove one guard from the head and look at the surface where the knife would ride. That surface should be flat and have small serrations on the edge to hold the stem while the knife shears it off.

I have some guards on a swather that have about a 5 degree bevel from the center to each edge and the serrations are nearly worn away but it still cuts rye, wheat, oats, and red clover stems just fine. It does not cut mature grass stems well at all. I should replace all the guards but that would cost 1/3 what I paid for the entire swather so I will just avoid the old grass.
