L2 stalk in tank

I just rebuilt the spike tooth cylinder. It's a corn plus... L2. Now I'm getting stalks in my sample. I have adjusted air. Chaffer, sieve, cylinder speed.. The best sample I had I was blowing a lot of beans out the back. I have I'm sure a 1 5/8 Chaffer and a tight sieve?

If using the 1 5/8 round ended chaffer, try setting both front and back around 7/16. For sieve, get a 3/8 in bolt and set so the threaded part of the bolt fits with just short of full clearance... i.e. A little snug. Turn the fan up to around 6, but no more.

Thanks. I called my local dealer and he's checking his grave yard for a standard 1 1/8 Chaffer. The 1 5/8 looks like a good corn Chaffer but to much room for pods.

Most places don't count pods against you unless the sample is 30%+ pods. Anyway, I have both of those chatfers and run the 1 5/8 with beans. Can definitely make a clean sample with it, as shown in the truck here.

Best thing for reducing pods is setting to shell them completely. You don't want to lose beans, shelled or not.

Running a completely rebuilt spike tooth and the stems are not making the soys look "clean". Maybe I'm to picky? They are non gmo and they need to be less than 2%. I think I'm on the line. I'll try setting where you told me. Thanks again.

The sieve is the last line of defense vs what goes into the tank. Close the sieve a bit. Tighter than the stalk size. Stalks should not get through the chaffer,. Square end chaffer should be good for corn and soy.

Probably does not apply here, but my son could not get his old F2 to clean well and he had forgot to put the screen underneath where the air comes in.

Find your self a round hole bean screen which replaces the bottom sieve and a short fingered chaffer and you will have seed quality beans for cleanliness.
