Has anyone put a 920 head on a 7700? Only
problem I have is no latch pins...is ther
a weld on latch pin up grade for a 7700?
Or do I have to just drill holes and bolt
it on? Thanks Dave

Dave The header has three 5/8 threaded holes in the back side. They will be about directly behind the lower feeder house drive shaft on your JD 7700. Unless your JD 7700 is a very early one it will have the holes in the face plate. Those holes are square. You use a short 5/8 bolt with a heavy washer on each side to hold the header on.

Look at the picture of the JD 7700 feeder house. You can see three square holes in the face plate. One on each side and one in the center. That is where you bolt the header on.

Then look at the JD 920 header. You see the three holes in the lower frame tube??? They are threaded for 5/8 bolts. This is how you attach the header on a non latch pin feeder house.

We just bolted ours on. You will also need an adaptor to get the header height control to hook up.

Dave I have never seen a JD 920 header without the holes. The picture is actually of a JD 920F header that is even newer. Look real close as some times the holes can be covered completely up with dirt/paint.

We attached our 215 Flex Head to our 4400 with these parts. They each have two bolts, and each one bolts to the side of the feeder house frame. The one picture shows how they go on in relation to what a newer (4420) feeder house looks like with the spring-loaded pins. I do not know the part #'s...

As far as I know they are Deere parts. They came with our 4400 in 1992. I briefly looked for them on www.deere.com in the parts section but couldn't find them. I bet a salvage yard would have them, or they may be fairly easy to make too. If you can't find any, please e-mail me at [email protected]. I have no use for these... Here's another picture from a different angle.
