A first for everything

Yesterday my wife a city girl ran a combine for the first time.I didn't even need a tranquilizer. She did real good for the first time shelling corn. Now if I can only learn her how to splitshift a grain then I wouldn't even have to go to the field.

Just give up on the split shifting idea. Seriously. I've tried until I am blue in the face. Some folks
just don't get it. I think you have to understand that you are shifting two different places and the
relationship between the two. My wife won't even check the oil on the lawnmower. Years ago I
almost bought a truck with a working fifth. I didn't because I thought adding that truck might make
it confusing when she learned to drive the trucks. I should have bought it. I'm still stopping and
taking all of the trucks in. I guess that's why I need two semis, a straight truck, and two grain
wagons. I need to cut all day and spend all morning the next day unloading.

I know someone that was bound and determined that his brother would be able to learn to drive
the 4x2. Last I knew it was duct taped in the high range because he had torn up something in the
rearend. That's costly. And interesting pulling up to the elevator, no doubt.

A neighbor put an automatic in one of the trucks so the dad (who had bad knees) could help. I just
drove that truck yesterday. Works very well. It still has a range switch but he knew how to use
that.
