Brakes 6600

I was always told at the dealership where I worked that the brakes were the same as a 70's vintage Ford 3/4 ton pickup. That should get you started. Mike

check around the older parts stores or auto machine shops, around here you can get them rebuilt, dealer wanted 200.00 a set for one side on and F3 sent them off and got them redone for 60.00 a set. that's the reason I try my best not to buy anymore from any dealer than I have to, because dealing with them I going to get took if not the first trip it will happen on the next one,any item that can be bought most anywhere you can get reasonable from them but they will get it back 4 fold if it's a dealer only item, several years ago I was at a chevy dealer and overheard the parts man quote a price of 300.00 for a set of (GM) rod and main bearings for a 350 motor, don't know if the man bought them or not, I could get a master overhaul kit at that time for less than that, It doesn't need to be packaged in oem boxes with their over pricing as long as it name brand parts they can be sold to me in zip-lock bags

I had a 1979 Dodge 3/4 ton pickup that used the exact same brakes as a JD 6600 and 7700. Just measure your drum for the diameter shoes you need. The brake assemble is a bendix one.

Thanx for the all the help I'm going to try the auto part store. On some parts the dealership isn't too much more and the mechanic loans me tools and books for bigger jobs. But the brake parts they want 360 dollars for one shoe. We rebuilt engine on 4320 year ago with aftermarket kit and it smokes I was thinking I should have gotten kit from dealer

Thanx going to take whole assembly and try to match up I need wheel cylinder and hardware and shoes. Neighbors say with hydro don't need brakes but we have to drive on busy roads hilly and thought should have brakes working

if they are bendix as JD Seller said there should be a casting number on the wheel cylinder, try looking the number up online, also bendix has an online parts book and cross-reference that the jd number might work on,i was able to find one for an F3 that was listed for a forklift and one for a 58 ford 1 1/2 ton grain truck online,my head is wanting to jump time but the best I can remember I was able to find cylinders on a site by MICO, their hyd brake lock valves use to be used a lot on trucks with hyd brakes.
