Harvesting Sorghum sudangrass with All-Crop

Friend has 10 acres of sorghum sudangrass that was planted as a cover crop last year and let go to seed. This year there is a volunteer stand that came up real nice and asked if I would want to try combining it with my All-Crop. Field is about 10 miles away, maybe 12. I have a wheat screen, clover screen a and 3/8" bean screen for my combine. Bean screen significantly larger than the sudangrass seed and clover is too small. Thinking the wheat screen may be my best option. Was going to pick a couple head and dry them a little more and thresh it by hand and roll it across the screen to see if it would shake through. Just planning on grinding the harvested seed into feed for chickens and hogs so it doesn't have to be impeccably clean sample. I've got a manual for the combine so I can try to figure out a ballpark setting for cylinder speed, concave clearance, and chaffers. Figured I'd direct cut with the head at full height to minimize the amount of stalk going into the machine.

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that sorghum sudangrass was a hybrid that would not make seed. I once had some on some set aside ground and what came back up the next year was shattercane that was mixed in with the seed. You DON'T want to combine that stuff unless you want it on your own ground, which I can guarantee you don't want at any cost. Be sure of what it is. Mike

I'll snag some pictures tomorrow. There most certainly is seed in the seed head. It's not grain sorghum. The seed looks more like the size of millet from what I can remember.
