Wobble box question for JD

Two years ago I had JD put a new bottom seal on the wobble box on the 922. Last year when the knuckle needed replacing at the end of the sickle bar I discovered it was leaking again. I had them come back out and get it (they could hardly get the arm off the bottom). Randy called back - the shaft is grooved. I asked about a speedy sleeve but no one on the shop was keen on it because of its size. Seems to me we should have mentioned the grooved shaft before, but that's gone and passed.

So $1200 (or $1700, I can't remember) later they installed a shiny new wobble box. It has about 500 acres in it and the new one is weeping. Not dripping, but it has itself and the arm coated in chaff. Do those things just ooze or do I get on the phone?

The new one should be covered under some warranty if you bought a complete new box. As for the old box. The shafts can be grooved but they will usually polish out well enough to seal. Without seeing the gearbox I could not tell you if you got hosed or not. I usually just rebuild them. They are not hard to do. Usuallu when the seal leaks it is because the bottom bearing is getting loose.
