4400 or 6600

Bought 6600 this weekend to get the three heads that went with it. When driving it home brakes heated up and caught fire when parked . Put it out needed hoses and charge pump belt so far was kept inside think may be better than 4400

My Deere 6620 would heat the right brake up to the point it was short of glowing. Previous owner must have had the same problem. The hub was broken out of the brake drum and was just free wheeling inside. Had a piece of wire holding the drum over the brake shoes. When I got it I got a good use drum and rebuilt everything inside. Adjusted it properly. Took it to the field. Eventually smelled something burning which was chaff burning across the main axle beam. Brake was smoking hot. Figured shoes were too tight or had come off of the hardware. So, tore it apart and reassembled. Did it again. Found out that there is a little hole in the bottom of the brake fluid chamber that was plugged and wouldn't let the brake fluid back from the wheel cylinder. Transmission/engine heat would expand the brake fluid which in turn applied the brake. Sucked the brake fluid out with a suction bulb so I could see the holes and cleaned them with a torch tip cleaner. Solved the problem immediately. Both wheels have great brakes. Good luck.

Thanks since this burnt I'm going to have to replace wheel cylinders and hardware but I wonder if clogged wheel cylinders was the problem combine had been in barn for ten years. Emergency brake was on released it and cables seemed loose but I screwed up leering it get hot and catching fire
