Saturday afternoon everything was going good till I didn't catch the hoop on the end of the crop divider wore thin and broke, This let the tip of the divider catch a ridge thrown up by the planter. I was watching the right side of the head cause it was building up with soybeans and all at once the head jerked the reel stopped and there was a loud BANG! I Hit the clutch and threw the thresher out! What the heck was that! Then I look left and I see the divider sticking in the ground. This looks like it could be bad.
Well I still have beans to cut to get a load ready to be sent out so I picked the divider up and set it up on the ladder platform checked things out and kept going till I had enough for a semi load. It tore the divider off and broke one of the guards off and bent the cutter bar. Lucky thing is I have another set of long crop dividers to put on and 2 of the 3 prong guards to replace the one that broke. It was a couple hours of work to fix and change the dividers and it was back to running. I really don't like these dividers on in drilled soybeans as they mash a lot of soybeans down that you cant pick back up so there a loss for sure. If this wasn't bad enough I found a pin hole leek in one of the steel lines for the steering cylinder, So I fixed it with the farmers field fix. A piece of fuel hose and 3 hose clamps and your back to going again. Well I'm back to running and it was just a hiccup in the day of cutting beans, Just a regular day in the life of a farmer. Bandit
