This might sound like a stupid question an my be self explainatory but since I've never seen the inside of the cab just picture of the outside I need a crash course in operating a F2 Gleaner direct drive machine I'm a tobacco farmer an would like to get into the grain side of the business thanks Andy

Gear Shift I'm going to look at it in the next few days Yes I plan on getting a Owners manual Just didn't wont look dumb when I got there an think they could hit me for a few more dollars

Is it an early. F2? They made an F2 short and the later models the walkers were longer. Check the rattle chain and threshing cylinder. Belts chains and ect.. Add up in a hurry also. I sold my F because of capacity and went to a L2 hydro.

Friend took me to look at a Gleaner of some sort, he knew I ran a few over the years. We got there, and it was a green stripe F3 with hydro tranny.

Wow. I didn't know they were still making F series when Duetz took over with the green, and didnt know that they put a hydro in the f series either.

Couldn't start it, couldn't move it when it got started the second time we were there, but I bought it.

Turned out it was a widow, friend of my friend, selling it, and it had to back it out of the shed, couple inches to spare on the door with the bean head.

Yea, you will get over it. ;)

Clutch and 3 brake pedals, only use the close brake to the steering wheel if the two others weren't used, they love to stick or out of fluid and don't work....

3 foreward 1 reverse shifter down by your right hand if its a belt/clutch drive.

Hydro has an upper high/low that needs to be on neutral to start, lower hi-low to give you your ranges, the big lever on the console moves you forward or back, be slow, gentle with the lever!

Older has 2 hyd levers that move fore aft, up down to control everything look at the little decals.

Newer electric over hyd has a panel of white switches that do everything, look at the decals.

Pretty basic, you just need a day to get used to it.

Pretty simple to operate---if its a gear, there are two gear shifters on your lower right; one has to be in neutral before you can shift the other. You can start off in third on level ground for transport; keep the variable speed lever pulled to the rear--the inside lever of two located on the forward top end of the right hand console. Better still, start the engine as usual, throttle and choke levers are on the top mid of the console. Depress the clutch, select first gear and release clutch Play with said variable speed lever while in motion---forward to speed up etc. Once familiar, try a higher gear. Table (header) lifts with lifting or depressing this same lever. Outside lever is for raising or lowering the reel on the header and for increading or decreasing reel revolutions. Header is engaged by a long lever next to your right leg--forward to engage--unless it has an electric rocker switch on the console Unload auger, if hydralic, has a control behind and to the left of the seat to swing out and engage.Really, quite easy to operate, just give yourself and others plenty of room and sit in the cab to become familiar with the controls before trying it out.
Have Fun and be safe!!
