215 head angle

What's everybody's preference for how much angle the head needs to sit at on a home made header cart to make it so you don't need too much ditch to make the connection? I'm sure smaller tires on the cart will help.

Usually just leave the head on, but this year I've got a longer trip down the road.

A fairly easy way to do this is to raise your head as high as it will go and measure the distance from the ground of the sickle and of the round pipe at the back of the head where it will rest. Note the distance between the two measurements. If you keep this differential and lower the whole by, say, 8 inches or so, the head will rest on the head mover to where the sickle hits first (what you want) and then will rest in the cradle at the rear. You will want the sickle to hit first with several inches clearance before the rear hits. It's not as complicated as it sounds. Mike
