'Barn find' jd 55

Went with a friend to pick up a tractor today. In the barn was a 1st year production JD 55 combine.12' cut. the reel is perfect! also has the original JD belt pickup.The thing looks like it would go out and work.Last run in '80. Bad thing is the drive tires are flat/rotten,and the engine appears to be 'dry stuck'.But,they practicly GAVE it to me!Now I have to haul it 100 miles,over a high mountain pass(McClure pass).Silly me forgot my camera.....pics to come later. BTW,the fall colors were absolutely stunning!

Lots of pics would be great. I have part of manual for a first year production and I have always wanted to see a real one in detail.

Well that sounds like a nice catch! So many machines get evicted from inside storage over the years and they deteriorate really fast then. We are looking forward to your pictures.
Folks I worked for years ago had an IH 93 with a pickup on it. The never used reel was up in the rafters of the shed and probably is still there today. ONE day someone will need that (!)
That reminds me; Their neighbour has a MH 92 (?) in the shed there that has only supposedly done 1 (ONE) crop......better go see that one.
