JD 4420 feederhouse question

I was adjusting the feeder house chain in my 4420 today and noticed the pan under the chain is not attached on the front. (nearest the header). I could pick it up a couple of inches like it is hinged on the back, (nearest the cylinder). I couldn't find any mention of this in the manual and wondered if its this way by design, or am I missing some bolts. 1981 machine with the short feeder house.
Thanks in advance.

Nice to know I am not the only poor devil that has a day off job. Regardless here is link to the parts page and picture.http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/...mePageServlet_Alt?search=model&model=4420
It should open the page to the feeder house. On the left are the sections of the feeder as deere has broken them down. you are at 277, the next if you click will be 278 then 279 these should show what you are working on. On the right where illustration is there is a white box with drop down arrow, click arrow choose illustration and you will open a new full page picture. HTH Tom
