White 7300 to a Gleaner F2

How much of an upgrade is going from the 7300 to the F2? My 7300 is pretty tired, no wait, it was tired when I bought it 3 years ago and I nursed it along. Its just unreliable. Came across a decent deal on a clean F2 with 15' series 2 flex head. Just wondering if its worth it.

I run about 120 acres of wheat beans and corn if it matters.

I don't know how the two compare capacity wise but the gleaner should be a whole lot easier to get parts for.

....and a WHOLE lot easier to put those parts on! Width of the cylinder would give you some idea of the relative capacity, as will engine HP

Here's a quick comparison of specs from the advertising brochures:

Engines: 7300 had a 97 hp 6 cyl diesel or 100 hp V8 gas. The F2 has a 95 hp 4-cyl diesel.
Cylinders: 7300 is 34 inches wide x 22 inches diameter. The F2 is 37.5 inches wide x 19.25 inches diameter.
Cleaning area on the 7300 is 3260 sq. in, the F2 is 3892 sq. in.
Separating area on the 7300 is 4420 sq. in., the F2 is 7818 sq. in.
Grain tank on the 7300 is 75 bu or 100 bu. with extensions; the F2 is 80 bushels or opt 120 bu.

I love combines of all brands but not a F series gleaner. I started out with one. It nearly broke me. Easy to put parts on but that's all I did. Constant trips to the dealer running into the same people over and over that also had f's. It would seem I wasn't the only one fixing all the time. It didn't like any kind of tough conditions either. Easy to slug even with all new bars. Corn cobs would stop the rattle chain. I can't say about a 7300 but around 2001 I picked up a White 8700 for $1,600 in fair condition to replace the gleaner (half the money of the f at the time). The 8700 did 4+ times the work in a day with 1/10th the repairs and hassle.

Is the f2 diesel? Hydro? Hydraulic auger? If so it's probably a nice step up. If it's gas, gear, manual auger, it's probably not a huge step up.
