Sorry guys it is a 4 row head 443 head. Thanks for the replies. How do you know how fast to run the feeder house? Just fast enough to pull the stalk ahead at the same ground speed of a combine?

I like to start out with it maxed out on speed and then start slowing it down to match my forward speed.
I don't want to be pulling the stalks out of the ground but still want to run fast enough to clear out the corn as it comes in. While running fast, the piece of tire/belting on the center of the auger will occasionally flip an ear out.

You will figure it out as you watch the corn flow through. You won't hurt a thing by experimenting with the speed.

Ideally, you want the gathering chains to be moving backward at approximately the same speed as the combine is moving forward. The stalks and ears should just disappear without any overt handling. You don't want to push the stalks by running the feederhouse too slow nor do you want to pull them by running it too fast. Mike
