F2 Power Steering

Having trouble with the power steering on an F2 that has the steering motor under the steering wheel. Serial # 47×××. Seems to get stiff, hard to turn.

Am told that the hydraulic pump sends fluid to a flow divider, before the ps or other hydraulics. Anybody had trouble getting material in the flow divider? I did have to replace the hydraulic oil filter a couple of years ago, because hydraulics quit working. Filter solved it.

Was suggested to check the oil pressure, I'm assuming right of the valve body. Any other suggestions?

gonna go out on a limb ,,,thinkin the combine sat a bit ,, probablynever had hydro fluid changed since new ,,. if that is the case ,, [probably has a cruded up valve someplace, watery gunk , and dirt grime in the tank ,, my mf 300 combine reservoir was reall nasty , slow hydraulics, after thourgh cleaning , worx good as new if you can get to them and clean the valves , that would be best ,,. above all , remove old fluid and replace with new ,. seems like I used jd 303 in my gleaner f ,, another thing you could try is a bottle of red HEET gas line cleaner ,,, or sea foam transmission cleaner ,, napa has some good tranny fix cleaner also

So, I got a used orbiter/steering motor/hand motor. Put it in. Seemed to help some. Then got stiff again.

Then I just happened to drive it without pulling it up close with the tilt. I prefer to run it with it nearly in my lap but it's hard to turn, but when I drive it with the steering column nearly straight up, it will turn with one finger. Go figure!
