fox super d

Diesel or gas? What heads?

I would answer not much if it does not have a 3 row corn head. Those heads often sell for more than a chopper, although I have not seen either sell in the past few years.

Tough question-many variables.

If you want to do narrow row (28-32" rows) you will need the 3 row head. You need the detroit, or the bigger gassers to run that head in good corn-also, the non-super D's SPF's have a lighter duty main axle.

Hydro or belt drive makes a big difference in value as well, as the hydro is more responsive, so more desireble. The belt drive is a bit mis-understood, and requires more attention to adjustment to get good performane, so usually brings less.

6 or 8 knife drum-makes a difference in value, as well. Knife condition is a $1000.00 question - a new set is $140/knife. Minimum width of knife is 2-7/8"

From personal experience, for corn, a diesel Super D or E, or a Max I or II with a hydro, 8 knives, and RWA , preferably with a cab, is what you want. The detroit 4-71 is a little light to run 3 rows on heavy crop up hills. The 6V-71 would be better.

On a hydro, the hydro drive shaft is $1000.00, and the flywheel to shaft coupler is $500-both of which are NLA from TwinDisc, the OEM. They both wear out around 4-5000 hours. Can be had from Works Sales in Indiana. I only mention it because it will be cost relative to the value of a high houred machine. Same with the feeder apron and board-that is another $1500 repair when needed. Not to mention corn head chain condition. Those are pricey as well.

One just sold on CL last week for $6500.00 it was a 6644 (Super E). Had 3 RN/RWA/8 knives, and no cab.
Last year i saw a few sell for 6-10K, which were in good shape, and they sold quickly.

If you see them for less than 5K, really look it over closely, as it may need many wear items replaced.

I apologize for the long winded reply, but i goof around with these things quite a bit.

Best of luck!!

I just bought a super d for 1500 it is in decent shape I called black creek and can get the rwa for 2500 hoses and pump axle whole works off a super E for it it has a newer style hay head an 2 row corn head

Is your super D a hydro? I think it needs to be for the 4wd.

I wish you luck, they are neat machines. I was opening fields Thursday aft with our Max II, which is a Super E with the 671 Detroit.

Nice!
Gas or diesel? Will do just fine with the 2 row.

Is it a hydro? Like Coonie stated - i think it has to have the hydro to add the RWA. 2500 is not bad!

When you pull the pump, check the splines on both ends of the shaft that powers the pump. If worn badly, see if they have a better one around. Be sure to grab the big valve block below the pump - that contols the RWA.
