I think Roger wins haul of the week award so I'll shoot for second. My 15 year old brother and I headed off to Northwest Iowa on Friday to pick up a ZO cotton stripper. The gentleman that I purchased it from had some really nice uni and other MM equipment.

Cotton stripping after the pickers went through used to be pretty common around here. Now they don't do that much; the growers must be satisfied with the return on the picked cotton so don't bother with stripping.

Strippers are really dirty, dusty to operate and the tough cotton stalks wear out the strippers pretty fast.

Make sure before you run the ZO that the "repair" has been made on the unit! I was on test stand at MM Hopkins plant the LAST YEAR they were made and 95+ % of the ones send out came back before I was on test stand and final inspection and stopped the line when I found the problem. LOOK TO SEE if the bearings and "u" joints in the "gear box" behind the two "picking" rollers (on each side just like the "rock and roll" two row mounted corn pickers) have holes in the covering plates to access ALL of the grease zerks within!!! If you need to, I can get you the locations , since I am sure I have an operators manual for it!

I would appreciate getting the information on the farmer who has the UNI equipment as I need a couple of the implements for my "Brown Mule".

Good luck on your project --- they are now making cotton pickers in Minnesota again -- (Case/IH) at Benson Minnesota.
