CIH 1660 - Control, we have ignition...

FINALLY....we are back in the game. Runs very well now. I am going to replace a drippy hydraulic line before I get too serious using it. Also in the process of diagnosing and repairing the oil pressure gauge. The PO had obviously been in there messing with the sending unit. I will just replace parts until I get the gauge to read. Not going out in the field again with any piece of equipment that has no oil readout. Some lessons are too expensive to forget.

Yes...they are almost there. I took some up to the elevator for a second opinion. They thought another week would do it. Fiddling with the oil sender. Apparently there is a "operator present" switch built in there somewhere. Blocks out the header lift and the unloader chute and maybe other functions. Can't lift the corn head to get it on the cart and cannot get the black corn out of the chute until I get this fixed. Pump works fine cause the steering works. This is getting a little old, but I think it is a simple fix. I'll try to get some pictures of the oats when I get going.

Electrical gremlins are always the hardest to fix it seems. Dad has been fussing about our oats last couple weeks so last Friday just had to run the combine up to the other farm and try them. After a couple hundred feet - two different times in the day- same result (about 20-22% moisture) he finally agreed they weren't ready yet. Was baling hay beside one of the fields today and they still look the same, maybe next week here too. I saw in another post you have a swather. Are you going to swath yours or direct cut?
