Hey doug wi

I'm still looking for a 10 ft dummy head for an F2. Noticed in an old post that you had run across one. Would a person be able to find one in your area now?

Never can find one when you need one. I was cruising through a machinery jockey lot a year and a half ago and saw this one sitting there. looked like something I might need sometime so I bought it. Just put it on for the first time this morning and ran some oats today . Worked great. saw another one last year on an online farm auction, but didn't need another one so didn't go after it. They are around but not a big ticket item so don't get advertised. Mine is the first 10' I have seen . Usually they are a pickup unit mounted on a 13' grain with the reel gone. Put an ad on craigs list. I have had good luck with that. Where are you located?

Where I am is the problem. I'm in SC Oklahoma and am growing some peas in N Texas. Windrow the peas, then pick them up. Heads for F2's are big. Mine came with an 18' head. I've bought a 13' floating in NE Iowa and have picked up a few gravity wagons up there lately. So I don't mind coming up there if you happen to run across one.

There was a dealer in Indianola Iowa [ just south of Des Moines]that used to advertise in the high plains journal that advertised what I thought was a lot of F series gleaners and heads for what I considered the corn belt . Seemed like that area would use bigger stuff. I believe they closed a few years back. But sure wouldn't hurt to put an ad on Des Moines craigs list. there is a lot of stuff sitting in old guys sheds. Or even check with combine salvage yards. They sometimes buy a package deal and don't scrap anything that's good. I thought mine was a Gleaner dummy head, but when I got it on I noticed it had a tag that said "Ross design and Manufacturing, Byron Minn." No provision for a reel or sickle. HAs an orange AC/Gleaner 2 belt pickup unit on it. Has taken abit of fabrication to mount the pickup unit. Either a crude factory job or pretty good home built installation. Its a lot nicer to get around with being only 10' wide rather than most which are mounted on 13' head. I'll keep my eyes open for you .
