We just this combine and start to do some work on it for fall.On the grease chart it said on the rotor driven pulley to only use case 251 H EP grease I have always used a good grease on my equipment is there a reason that I have to use this grease on that fitting? The book says that grease or equivalent on the other fittings.

I've always used good quality grease. The first year I had the 9500 the walker bearings went out.
Twice. The field mechanic asked what grease I was using so I showd him. He said NEVER run
anything but Deere gun grease. I switched and never had another one go out. That was about
2500 hours ago.

It isn't going to be cheap. Buy a new grease gun and a box of that grease. Use it only on that
combine. Or, you could just switch to the good stuff. I have to mortgage the farm to buy a case but
there's never a question about what grease I use. I think that stuff is like $10 a cartridge or some
stupid amount. I just pay the bill when it shows up.

I would be using what the grease chart and manual calls for. If you ever have to change a rotor bearing because of using the wrong grease you'll wish you had.

We use Mystic JT-6. Just need a extreme pressure grease use it on the whole machine. Has worked on 2 old axial flows since 1987.

I was told by a CIH mechanic the reason for the spec. is due to the material the grease seal is made from.

I mounted a grease gun holder up there under the hood for a gun with the CIH grease in it. Then I don't have to drag two guns up the stairs every
day.

right or wrong i use the same grease on the combine, it is a good high grade grease but i also make sure it gets greased everyday and make sure i see new coming out, this is on a 1680.
