GM 250 Manifold on Gleaner K2

I've noticed my Gleaner K2 gasser manifold gaskets are shot and exhaust manifold is slightly cracked. I'm thinking about replacing the exhaust manifold and gaskets with another stock manifold for this GM 250 inline 6 but it seems to me these exhaust manifolds are well known for getting very hot and cracking, so is this going to be a waste of time and money or is there another way to keep this exhaust cooler? Custom headers? This exhaust is 2 1/2" and while I would consider a 292 manifold, I can't seem to find one with 2 1/2" outlet. Any ideas???

The early JD 4400 combines used a 292 GM gas engine on them so there is another idea to look at. 292 GM engines are getting harder to find now days so you might have to do some looking to find one. You could buy a new aftermarket manifold from A&I. Bandit
