JD 95 header lift valve

While cutting wheat this summer, my 95 has developed an issue with raising the header. You have to keep pulling the lever repeatedly to raise the header and its real slow. All other hydraulic functions work just fine, even while trying to raise the header. Any thoughts? BTW it has the one piece valve not the stacked one.

I'm with casecollectors in thinking its a pressure issue. Is it a QT head? If so set it off and see if it raises the feederhouse alone at normal speed without the head. If so I think you may have a pump issue. Maybe a loose belt but I would have thought you would have heard it squeal if it was.

If it isn't a QT feederhouse I suppose you'll just have to tap into a hose somewhere and hold that function against relief to see how much pressure you are making.

Relief valve vibrated loose? You probably would not hear a squealing belt from the cab because of engine noise. If it's belt drive does the variable speed ground drive work OK. It's in the same valve block as header raise. Steering comes off the pump through a separate prioritized port but if the belt is slipping you should notice a weakness in the steering while you are trying to raise the head. Have you checked linkage slop between the raise lever and valve? Just rambling thoughts. It's a simple system.

Its not the belt. All the other functions work fine when trying to raise the head. It has to be in the valve. I was just wondering if there was something on that spool that could come apart like the plastic piece in a Gleaner valve.
