Got my ih 303 running. Runs awesome. No smoke. Good oil pressure. Engaged the thresher and head everything worked. Now the question I have would it be better to leave the cab on. Or take it off and try to find the rails that go around platform. And were the cabs factory. Cab has different tag on inside.

I'd leave it on if you're going to combine any soybeans, otherwise they'll hit you in the face. This way at least you have a windshield.

If you plan to use it, leave the cab on! Make sure the blower fan in the cab can move the air and the filter is installed. My dad ran a 545 Oliver with a cab for years, after he ran an old Massey Harris without a cab. He thought he died and went to heaven just having a cab to keep the dust, the dirt, and the itchy chaff outside the cab. He might have sweated some in the cab, but at least he was not filthy dirty and itching all during the day. When he moved up to a 7700 Deere with air conditioning, it was even better than the step up before. The dust and chaff from the crop dust is not pleasant to be working in and breathing in.

Leave the cab on...the dust swirling up from the feeder auger is unbearable at times.
I'd rather sweat at times in the cab than try to breathe the dust.
Get the blower working good with a clean filter.

Lol I did turn the blower on to see if it worked...yup face full of lady bugs is what I got. Lol

This combine was parked in the shed in 1983. So to hear it fire right up was music to my ears.

Fix up one of these hillbilly air conditioners using an insulated five gallon bucket and a fan. Bet it would cool a combine cab pretty well just need a few bags of ice. A lot of times in fall you don't need ac but combine cabs get pretty warm if the is a lot of sun.

I take cabs off my antique combines for this reason. I have allergies and asthma and its harder on me if I leave the cab on because of all the dust that collects and lingers in the cab. If there is no cab then a breeze can take the dust away.

Leave it on and get the blower working good. We took the cab off a JD 55 and if your gonna cut beans or oats it's miserable.

In Europe, the IH of similar period (431, 531), and Braud combine had a dust aspirator on the feeder house.
Worked pretty good.
I remember it failing on a hot day in Barley. Well you knew that something went wrong, as barley was so itchy... So that was a good prooff of the efficiency of it.

1st combine I drove was that IH531, 125HP, IHD358 German engine, we had 3 in the farm. Now they got a Lexion, not fun anymore...

Run it as-is!

I hope you have fun with this machine. You can put air conditioning on it, b it will cost as much as yu paid unless you know about air conditioning and have a junk car laying around to rob parts.

Looks like a fun machine. Hope you have fun!

See if you can find a water cooler to mount on the cab - much better than nothing and much cheaper than trying to go to "real" AC.
