There is a JD 95 in an upcoming action that has a floating cutter bar on the grain head. Combine has definitely seen some hard use. I am going to go look it over closely before bidding on it, However I really know little about this model combine. Anything in particular I should be wary about with this model?

Thanks, Matt

Nope. Not a thing to be concerned with. Other than excessive wear.IMHO,a 95 is one of the best(if not THE best) older machines out there.Simple, basic, easy to work on,lots of capacity........Just good old combines.

Good machines, we have two 95's,55 and a 105 that we use. The gas engine is a little thirsty but what big gas engine working hard is not? Do not but a wore out machine as parts are getting harder to find. Most salvage yards sent all the old machines to China when scrap prices were very high.Buy as good of a machine as you can afford and take your time so you get a good one.A good 95 gas can still be bought for $1000-2000. The most I paid for any of mine was $1500 and they are all good late model machines that were shed kept. Are you interested in a cornhead? I would like to sell my 435 that has always been shedded it is a 4 row for 38 inch rows. Tom

If I buy this one it will be a bean only combine for a while. I appreciate the offer but plant narrow rows. The last 95 I seen sell sold for $525 dollars with a 4 row narrow corn head and the 14 foot grain head.

If it's a late model, with the 303 engine, make sure there is no coolant in the oil. The 303 had a piston sleeve design that "could have been better."

I agree. I have 1969 55 and a 1967 95 with that 303. The 55 is diesel and the 95 is gas. The 55 gets coolant in the oil after it sets for awhile. The 95 has about 2,000 hrs on it and it was overhauled a 1,500 hrs for that same issue. I know a lot of people say the 95 was the best of the lineup and it was a good combine. But a SB 105 is better IMO mainly because of the engines. The 217 was average at best, the 248 not so good and the 303 should have been great except for the O-ring issue. Can't go wrong with the 404 in the 105.
