Uni system vs pull type!

Do uni systems pickers do a better job at picking than new idea pull type pickers! The snapping rolls shell bad! And I see old uni's have snapping plates! And did they make a 6 row head for a uni picker? Or just the uni combine?

Found them. No doubt you could use a 6 row head but you'd have to go slow or get a lot of fodder with the ears.

Father in law had a six row Deere head on a Uni picker. He picked for me one fall and it could pick a lot of corn in a short time but it was trashy. The head with stripper plates pulls in more trash that overloaded a husking bed that was already stretched a little too far handling six rows.

Some of the old uni's did not have stripper plates. They had a 4 row head that was essentially two NI picker heads joined together. The later ones had more options, including using an adapter plate witk JD or other heads.

Good looking pictures from the Van Wert show several years ago when NI was featured. I had a couple pieces of equipment on display there. That blue pickup in the picture belongs to a friend.

Yep, and it will be a challenge next weekend to have the Old Fashioned Farmers days this year with all the RAIN. By the forecast it won't dry much before then.
