Gleaner L2 transmission

I'm asking for a friend who doesn't have an Operators Manual. He has a warning light showing for transmission oil. Where do you check and fill the transmission on an L2 Hydro?

Mark

Hydro or gear tranny, I will guess the light is on a hydro style, but I'm not sure?

Paul

There are two transmissions on that combine, the hydrostatic trans and the gear trans (hi-lo range) A yellow lite will show low hydro pressure, fill tank is to the right and rear side of the radiator. Red lite indicates the gear trans. Crawl underneath and look for the fill/level plugs--don't recall exactly where they are; uses 80/90 wt. gear oil.

It is not uncommon for the hydro light to be on from time to time, if you are at full engine speed and in the mid range of speed for the gear you
are in it should go out, but if you are creeping slowly or some such it often is on for a bit. They made it yellow because it doesn't mean you have
a real problem, but you should take note if it stays on for some time....

Paul

If I recall correctly the light is on when stopped or in reverse, shouldn't be on with forward travel. To check tranny oil, drop the leaf screen, there's a plug on the right side of the tranny about half way up, oil should be at plug level, use 821 Agco oil or hydraulic/transmission oil. Oil could need drained, big plug at the bottom with steel line going to it, remove and drain, there's a screen and magnet that's cleanable.
