What would 815 low profile combine be worth one is goin to be auctioned off in ohio which says it has 330 hours on it but doubt it! What are the week points? besides old and out dated!

I have a diesel, 1977 low profile. Spent a lot of money on the old thing, just like old red stuff. Told a guy I'd take 5500 with heads, never saw him again! Still doin 40 acres or so a year, 1666axial flow does the heavy work. Late models have the 414 diesel, they are a decent combine, little hard to work on, but easier than a MF 510. Had a couple of those too. Get a rotary, so much easier to work on and parts availability is better.

I think the diesel 815's were ok. The gas v-8's tend to burn like most gas v 8 combines.

they are good combines just keep the engine comparment clean thats the main thing that led to them burning

Heres pictures of the 815 IH and 55 JD combines that are selling Saturday in Ohio..The 815 was last used in 1981 so the hours could be close to right..It will be interesting to see what it brings..Machinery Pete is covering the sale....Back in the 1970's I can remember 12-15 burnt 815 IH's in the salvage yard near me..There were no 815-915 IH's in my neighborhood,just 715's.....

The 915/815s had a poor reputation around here. That's coming from some of the die hard red guys around here.

What kind of crop do you plan to run through it? All the years I was involved with the wheat harvest I saw a total of two old IH conventionals sitting in the fencerows. There were lots of old Deere's, Masseys and Gleaners sitting around in in the tall grass but practically no IH's. I was told IH conventionals threw too much out the back. Seems like IH didn't come in strong in the wheat country till the rotaries came out.

When i mentioned the burning situation I should have said gas 815's. I don't think the salvages had any more burned 815's than any other diesel brand.

Just talked to my friend who saw the 815 combine sell Saturday. Combine with grain head brought over 8 thousand. He did not stay for the Deere.
