I saw this cute little 40 in my local Craigs List. It looks like a runner but the price caused me to sort of wonder if the seller is maybe a
little out of touch on antique combine values..
40 Combine CL listing

"Excellent condition", he says, with at least one of the corn head snouts damaged along with the wheel shield. Those were the first things I noticed without looking closer. It's probably a usable machine but is priced way over what common sense would dictate. Mike

maybe , look at it from sellers point , can you find a comparable running machine that size easily to go to the field ? I dunno ,, these dinosaurs are getting extinct ,, any machine in running condition to me is worth 3 k , until last yr they were nearly worth that in scrap alone . I know , I had to beat a scrapper to get my 750 massey .,. that fella has nurtured this machine for yrs and obviously took goodcare of it , maybe loves his combine and ,. he probably priced it that hi to find a good home,, and not at a combine derby at the fair.. more than likely if you showed up , talked a good talk , and passed muster of genuine interest of continuing good care and upkeep while using it ,,.. he mite convince himself to take half what he is asking

Ha ha! It's a mite bit small even for me. It's sort of a novelty. It wouldnt take modern corn too well and Im not sure it has a low enough gear to take modern wheat if a guy was going to bale the straw.

I'm thinking I wont have to jump very fast to catch it if I change my mind on needing it. I have a feeling that it isn't going anywhere too fast at that price.
