F2 unloading auger

Was messing with my F2 and raised the powerfold unloading auger. When it was extended, the ball bearings were obvious. Took a pic, and a friend saw the Gleaner dealer out west, showed him the pic, dealer asked why it hadn't fallen off yet.

Have never taken one apart. What are the odds that either of the races are still good? The parts from Gleaner are expensive. I didn't pay that much for the machine. Is there a cheaper source?

if cleaned up you can see the balls, that don't mean it's shot post a picture and let others have a look, lot of the time dealers like to sell parts and services that aren't need

Here is the top as it's rolled into position to unload.

I would get it fixed. Last thing that happened to our L2 before we sent it down the road was the auger fell off right there in the yard.

My early Gleaners were manual fold so I don't have too much experience with the ball setup other than looking at my newer setups and
thinking, oh, must still be ok......

Looks to me like maybe some balls are missing already on yours, tho I'm no expert, it is cheaper to fix now that later if it fails. I'd look into it
more at the least.

be a few days before I can have a look at ours and see if I can count the balls, from the angle of the picture the gap looks a little wide but the balls appear to be in good shape without any rust, the bearing will have some play in it,but in order for it to separate there would have to be enough room between the race halves for the balls to start falling out giving enough clearance for it to separate, most of the time the housings on either side of the bearing wear thin and collapse,if yours is worn out there are several aftermarket companies that handle them for around $600, I rebuilt the housings on ours 2 years ago and it's still using the original bearing.

I'm curious about aftermarket parts. I can find ball bearings, but what about the inner race. Do you have a specific place to find aftermarket?

type in 71339770 in google search it list several aftermarket suppliers that have the assembly not just the bearing, check with Oakley Combine Oxford N.C.they specialize in gleaner combines of all models or Baker Abilene machine for a used one if you're interested in a used one
