Photos of Vintage JD 36 pulled combine

I'm not a farmer or tractor guy. I was out taking photos and came upon two John Deere combines that were pulled and have their own motors. I figured I should post them in the event that someone has an interest in how these are put together. They seem to be in surprisingly good condition and have lasted well in the high desert.

I don't own them or know who does. They seem to be on semi public property and I don't believe I was trespassing.

Neighbors had a 36 combine. The fall of 1943 was really wet. It was the talk of the neighborhood when the neighbors installed a dryer on the combine to dry the windrows as they went into the combine. Needless to say, that didn't work out too well!

We pulled our combine around with a D4; the big wheel under the hopper would plug up and just slide around the field. When we got stuck, we'd unhook the D4, put some cedar posts with cross cleats nailed on under the tracks so the D4 could crawl out. In the process, the posts would disappear into the ground and we never found them again when we tilled the soil later.

We had some much rain that fall that it drowned all the gophers in the pasture and cut off my source of income from the bounty that the county paid for gopher tails.

We had one of those that came with a farm we bought back in 1990. Ours was a hillside. Scrapped it a couple of years ago. I like your pics especially the 2nd one. Can't help but think the wheat that combine harvested went into that elevator.

This is in Corral, Idaho. Here are a couple photos of the schoolhouse and some cars next to the elevators. I threw in another photo of a nearby elevator in High City.
