Ok guys first i want everyone to know i don't want this to be a color war. i am a red guy and have a 7700 and like it.

i am a strictly soybean farmer (for now) i am getting more and more ground every year. i have a 7700 with straw chopper and i really like it. my question is when i go to upgrade within the next year should i go with a 1460/1480 of stay with the 7720? i have never ran a red one in beans only corn so i don't know how well they do.

thanks

In just soybeans it is hard to beat the cylinder walker machines. That JD 7720 will be running green stem soybeans much earlier than the rotary 1460or 1480. Also you are going to want a JD header on either brand of combines. The IH cutting platform that went with the 1460/1480s was not near as good as a JD 200 series platform. Also in this area parts availability is much better for the JD 7720. The larger aftermarket suppliers help keep JD in line.

You wouldn't regret a good 9500 (and I am "red", too). That's that I use with a 922 header. It has been a VERY good
machine. Make sure you use the John Deere grease, especially on the walkers. Don't ask how I know. They have good
access to everything, even for someone with arthritis like mine. The only thing you will cuss is greasing the main drive shaft
that runs through the grain tank to the front. That thing requires a contortionist and a car full of clowns.
