anybody run a rock guard on a 925 head? I made one out of plastic pipe 2'' I don't think I like it short beans stack-up and sometimes fall off both corners don't feed right, beans hang up and come in as a wad. is there anything better or just nothing?

I had a Johnson brand 1 on a 915, I was never happy with the header, I never could get it to cut as low as I wanted, tried tilting the cutterbar, playing with the DAM whatever I thought would help. Well I sold the head and bought a 918 without a rock guard, I never did any adjusting on it other than the DAM and it cuts where I think they all should. Kinda' makes me wonder if the rock dam was why I couldn't get cut short.

we had one that was about an inch and a half tall on our 925 and we are in southern Indiana (limestone country) had mixed feelings about them. not a bad idea but we eventually took it off mainly just because changing knives was a pain. always seemed to break in the worst places but I guess that's how it goes

if you want to stop the wadding up problem the only good way is to get a full finger auger. they are so much nicer and a lot more even flow. don't waste your money with those triangle cones that you can put on the auger with self tapping screws they are a huge disappointment. just keep your eyes out there aren't a lot out there. I was able to pick one up for about $10,000 for our 9500. seemed expensive at first but after cutting beans with it it was worth at least double what we had to give for it for the results it gave us
