343 corn head

I may have a shot at a 343 in fair but usable condition. I have not got a price for it yet. What would be a fair price range? I am hoping to get that so I don't have to deal with the 313 anymore.

I wouldn't think a good one wouldn't cost you any
less than $1500.00. Some are asking more like
$2500 but I'm not sure they are selling at that
price. It may be a case of whishful thinking on
the sellers part..

I've recently purchased a 343 myself from a
fellow on this site but have yet to use it or
even retrieve it. I was wanting to wait until
the salt was off the roads before hauling it..

What's it going on? A 45 or 55? I'd be anxious to
hear how your old combine handles the 3 narrow
rows. How many bushels per hour can it handle?

Well the snow finally melted enough I can maybe get the serial number to you on a BOS. LOL I though Feb. was never going to end.

My 313 went to scrap several years ago along with 4 45 combines when I quit farming. Isen't the 343 a wide row head? I think the first 3 is rows then the 4 is 40" rows. I know the 313 is a narrow row head.

The 343 is narrow row. 344 is the wide row. I assume the "4" in both means 40 series and the last digit means wide or narrow. 313 is an older series.

My 55 with a 343, sure is a lot nicer than the 335 I used to have.
You will need the feederhouse drive shaft support on the right hand side. It's an L shaped bracket.

thanks for posting the pics. The feeder house on mine doesn't have the shaft sticking out the right side. Looks like I would need to have a different shaft made or run a Jack shaft from the left side. I just hope I am able to get the 343.

You did change or get a quick tach feederhouse? To my knowledge they all have shafts on both side.

Yes it has the quick tach feeder house. That was on there when I got the machine. Maybe mine is an earlier model or something.

Does front of your feeder house look just like one in pic. ; Or does bottom lip curve forward? If it curves it is detachable platform feeder house, used on detachable grain heads only , It won't work on Quick-tach grain platforms or a 343 , $0series corn head... All quick-tach feeders had a full length shaft coming out on both right & left sides.. Could your be broken off...

. The shaft is not broken on mine. It does curve forward at the bottom. I didn't realize there were two different detachable feeder houses. It makes more sense now. I guess I am stuck with the 313.
