CIH 1020 bean head

Just got this head to replace an worn out one that came with my 1640 the auger has had all the retractable fingers removed and a flight extension on the auger. The dealer said the soybean feed a lot better this way but he would take it off and give me a set of fingers for it. Has anyone ran one like this with the flight extension?

I will be interested to find out. I have exactly the same head, and was told the same thing. Mine still has the original fingers. I have only done small grain with mine so far, and haven't dared mess with it. I've had quite a few challenges feeding short straw, but after going over all the header adjustments, and working on the feeder, I think I've got it.

I've run mine with no fingers, and the extensions
for years. Never had a problem, beans feed fine.

mine is the same, i have never had any problem with it feeding.
