Fox 4510 harvester

This question is for some of the fox guys I have a 6250 SPF fox and it has a three row narrow head. I have wide rows and want to go to a newer 7234 chain head and have located one on a 4510 pull type. Does anybody know if this 7234 will fit my SPF 6250. I have been told it will but the lincages on top of the head fastens differently for the 4510 than the SPF 6250[/img]

I do not know for sure about that one.

Did you give Norris Works a call? They could tell
you for sure. Pretty much is the last remaining
Fox resource.

Best of luck! Pretty sure you should have no
problem selling the old 3 RN - unless it is the
one with the rubber "chains".....not the best
design,on that one.

I like the belted heads if the three row was 38 inch I would just use it but it is non adjustable probably will keep it worth 1500 in parts alone for the 2200 pull type that I have with a two row belted head on it

Yeah almost forgot I know Norris he is previous owner of 2200 pull type I have
If you know of any fox stuff around for sale let me know my neighbor is toying with the idea of a 6650 with a 4 row 7238 we know where both items are at but don't know if we can put the deal together or not

That would be a nice set up! I am sure it would
be worth putting together. Would make the detroit
sing with the 4 row! Does it have the kernal
breaker in it? I have yet to see one with one it
it.

I never ran the belted heads - my old Super D has
the chained heads. But, most of the old neighbors
that had the belted heads back in the 90's always
complained about them - most likely was operator
error/ignorance/worn out parts. Not many of them
ever read their operators manual on any piece of
equipment they owned.

If you ever see/find anything about a 6860 or a
6660, please keep me in mind; I do not know how
many were built, but "someday" would like to
find/go look at one. They were a pretty neat
looking machine. Can't find anything on them
online.

Same thing as 6650 just different cab and engine compartment added some things like auto sharpening iron gaurd and maybe auto shear bar adjust. Saw one I Iowa at dealership maybe 6 or7 yrs ago but it had a 4 row auger type head price was 12500 lost track of it because thought it was too much money wish I knew where it was now

No kernal breaker in the 6650 I also would like to see one I saw a post saying thatu had a 8 knife in a super d my neighbor has two d one with 471 det and 6 cyl gas we chopp with the gas u can look it up on u tube just search for fox chopper marshall nc was wondering if u added 8 knife to the d that u have and what did u have to do to put that in

I have been running it on my 6250 which is the same thing
Could send u some pics if u want if I had your contact info

my d came with the 8 knife drum already in it. 3 bolt knives. i
had a parts 2200 with an 8 knife drum as well. looked like just
cutter head and shaft was different between the D and 2200. i
saved the cutterhead, knives and related parts off the 2200,
and scrapped the rest about 7 years ago.

i have most part manuals up to the super d's, and i believe i
have manuals for the 2200 - i will see what part #'s change
between the 2. will let you know!

Well, none of the manuals that I have show an 8
knife cutter head, but I only have manuals up to
about 1976, and none of those cover the MAX 1 or 2
series of choppers. Don't show 8 knives even in
my 6250 & 6350 manuals. Only 6 knives in the 2200
& 2250, 2300 & 2350 manuals. Same for the 1000,
2000, and 3000 series.

I have to assume at this point, that the 8 knife
head was either an extra cost option, or perhaps
was only available much later. I DO know the
original owner of my Super D put on the 4 wheel
drive, and upgraded the cutter head - what year
that occurred I do not know.

I have a 2200 with 6 knife 3 bolt manual does not show w8 knife my 6250 has 8 knives but like ur manual shows only a six knife Norris works said the first 6200 s hAd the six knife and the later 62 and 63s had eight We have found that alot of the manuals does not tell u everything specially parts that will interchange Fromm one machine to another just as the eight knife will go where the six will and vise versa your d did not come with 8 knives or 4wd but I'm sure it is working a d fitting fine with little or no modification

Oh yeah my 6650 manual shows a 6 or 8 knife option both with three bolts however knives won't interchange two outside holes will not line up correctly

Having converted some 3000s to 8 knife, you need
to remove the old spiders, and replace with new.

I think I have a complete cutterhead with 8
knives that would fit a Super D. If you are
interested, I could look around.

My neighbor has the two d's ill ask him if he is interested he has talked abou it several times but we never could locate a 8 knife donar at a reasonable price

Good to know!

The only down fall with my Fox is the lack of
kernel prcessor; I have a lot of un-knicked
kernels/cob pith. I run the feed at shortest
length possible. When I buy silage from my
neighbor, on occasion, his silage is always really
nice. Kernels are broken up nice, and no cob
chunks. He runs his thru a Gehl with a processor,
which he keeps pretty tight. I am thinking about
finding a forage mill, or even trying to run
silage thru some sort of roller mill at the silo,
before ensilage. I do not have a corn screen for
my Fox - thought about trying running a screen,
too.

Might be a waste of time - might not!

A screen will rob some power I tried it in a gehl 800 had to take it out not enough hosses to pull it We have thinking about a cracker plate like koomia offers for the deere 3000 series but would have to maintain the 16 inch cutting circle that fox requires I saw where coonie Minnie in a post that he had put a processor on a fox 3000 maybe he could advise you on how to do that

I think the 8 knife came out with the 3310 pull types... or possibly later.

Fox offered a kit to update earlier choppers. These kits were available yet into the late 1990's.

Yes, with a 3 row head on the super D, in good corn
it has its pants full - another reason I do not
think a screen will work. Not enough power in the 4-
71 for all of that work.

I was at Norris works place a 2 yrs ago and saw a super d that someone had converted the 471 out and installed a 3208 cat That would take care of your horsepower problem did t look like it had required any if Little modification either said they were looking forward to trying it out It was a really neat and clean job

Wondering if any of u guys are familiar or have talked to glkfarm they left a post on this topic if anybody knew where a hayhead that will fit a 6244 I have two hay heads along with a 3 row belted narrow cornhead I responded ,but have heard nothing back. Being new to YT how do I look up or contact individuals without posting

Norris works said 8 knives cameout with all the 10 series, the later 6250,6350,6650 models and all the 60 series, didn't ask about the retrofit kit but it looks to me it would not be hard to do even if it came from a donar unit saw that post where said u put a processor on a 3000 how did u do that and did it work well for you

Nice pictures!

I had thought about getting a bigger Fox,
something with a 6 cylinder Detroit, but it is not
in the budget this year; will have to make do with
what I have.

If you go to modern view, you can search for an
author, and see if they have an email - i do not
know if the Instant Messaging function is working
or not.

sorry for not getting back just enjoying this weather hahaha
what were you asking for the hay head and where are you located?
my email is [email protected] if you could send some pictures thanks

It worked well... but you'd be better off to
buy a chopper with one on. When we did it,
there were no pull types available... ours was
done the first year Gehl put out their
prototype on the 1265, soon to be 1275.

Our design was very similar as we both used a
mill from automatic.

If I get a chance I'll post some pictures.
Still have the machine.

Would love to see some pictures of that set up.

I do not think there is any room to fit a processor in a Super D. I know that the later models (like the 6650's) had those augers behind the cutterhead, that fed the blower, and I am assuming, the "Kernal Breaker" option. I wonder what rpm it had to turn at to do its job?

Have never seen that before but I have seen a actual horning processer on a 6650 at Norris works in indiania

Hey would like to see those pics of the processer on the 3000
Talked to my neighbor about the 8 knife u mentioned to fit the super d he wanted to know if u would send us some pics and how much u would ask for it If u send pics just send them to my phone 828-231-5729
