Hi guys, What are the major differences in the 6600 and 6620 other than the cab and the unloading auger.Im looking at a 1978 6600,or should I go a little newer to the 6620.Thank-You!!!!

Straw walkers are 20" longer on the 6620, hydraulic speed control on the cylinder, and feederhouse reverser depending on the year. Several other minor differences depending on the year of both combines. If the 6620 is in as good as shape as the 6600 and not much more $$$$$, the 6620 is a no brainer. The 20 series have a better reputation around here too.

The 6620 has the 466, a much nicer cab, and DAM header control for starters. I just bought one with 2100 hours that was kept inside and well maintained for $3600. Be patient and you'll find what you are looking for.

straw walkers are only longer on the titan two's. they run too fast and are prone to break. a late 6600 is a very nice easier to work on combine.

I think you are confusing the shoe with the straw walkers. All 6620/7720s had walkers 20" longer then their predecessors. On the Titan IIs, JD did lengthen the shoe 6" and speed it up which led breakage.

Very early 6620s did not have Dial-A-Matic but rather header height. You could order one without DAM or HH.

My early 6620, 1978 model, has Header Height the neighbor's 1979 is DAM.

Hey Chris95 I think you got the deal of the year on your 6620 for 3600.00. Where did you find that great deal at?

Auction time. It was just down the road from my brother on a dealers lot. I never would've thought I would get it for that.

Thanks. I've always known the 6620 had either a 125 hp 466 with the posi torque or the 145 hp 466 with the hydro. Somebody mentioned very early 6620s were available with the 404. That's the first I've heard of that so that's why I asked you.
