JD 9500 cyl for auger flighting

Has any of you had to replace the cylinder (leaking) that tightens the belt to run the unloading auger flighting. Went to Deere and they said it could not be repaired but wanted $500 for a new one. So I took it to a machinist who took welding apart and repaired. It seemed ridiculous that Deere did not make this easily repairable.

Not that, but along the same lines. During bean harvest I noticed lots of beans on the ground. I adjust and readjusted everything twice but still saw shelled beans. Come to find out the front cross auger at the bottom of the bin had worn through just under the auger swing. It had a hole about the size of a baseball and was paper thin around it. I siliconed a piece of plastic over it and finished harvest. After I was done I went to Deere and found that they made a repair piece for just that section. It is about 10 times thicker than the original metal. They must have realized that was a weakness on the 9500.

This is not a "weakness" of the 9000 series combines. This is a repair part for a high wear area on any combine. Many have been fixed with a "pound it in and pop rivet it" repair but this formed repair is a good fix for the auger troughs. Other brands of combines have the same type of repair. Be glad you can buy an "off the shelf" fix for this. Mike
