Easy fixes in a way. One advantage your 4400 has you don't need a technician to come out and plug his lap top in whenever a break down occurs.

If you haven't done it already, check the battery cable ends. My 4420 had a cracked/loose end and that caused the alternator light to stay on. Replaced the end and charging problem solved.

willtighten and clean connections when got it home. itcranks good and starts right up. with meter on it it does put out to 12.8 when reved up. 12.2 idle. i ts 39 years old and anticipate some frustration keeping any combine that old working. but most of our other is almost as old . thanks for advice

i have friends that are techs and they all say the same. some of the new computer stuff can be hassel when doesnt work but nice when does work. thanks for all replies

That is a plus in the combines favor, The gas model is a pain to work on the engine. Shoot me an email with a phone# and I'll can you about it. Bandit

I had 2 that I used on corn for years. My first one was gas and the other a diesel. I had very few problems with either one except that the gas engine used a lot of fuel. The diesel one was a very good machine and I used on corn for 4 years. After real muddy harvest I decided to get a 6620 with rear wheel assist.

I wish I had kept the 4400.

The 4400 is not a bad little combine, my only issue with them is keeping dust from entering the cab and floating around and sticking to your windows and nostrils
