Needing Bracketry for 343 Corn Head Drive

Does anyone have an old Deere combine that was set up to run a 343 corn head? I'm needing the RH shaft support that bolts to the rear of the feeder house and supports the shaft all the way on the end on the RH side where the corn head drives. This could be on a 45, 55, 95, 3300 or 4400 so long as they have used a 343 corn head.

I currently have the support bracket to drive a 244 corn head but am fearful of breaking the unsupported shaft with the 343 that drives on the very tip end of the shaft.

A neighbor had the same problem on a 4400/343.We ended up makeing a support. We used flat sleel, kind of made a 'box'.Then got a bearing/bearing holder. It works.Looks similar to 'factory'.Mount up the head, measure and 'fit'. You can do it! If not take to a welding/fabrication shop.

I used it some as it is and didn't have any trouble. But not a lot, so if JD says you need it maybe you do.

I can but time is always my limiting factor. A direct bolt-on version sure does make things nice :)

The 244 bracket is sure better than nothing but the full length bracket sure would "solidify" things.

Try these Bowie Equipment in Tipton IA at 563-886-6946 They have lots of salvage combines and parts. Also try Kalsem Implement in Waterloo IA as they have lots of salvage as well. I think the bracket you need was used on Deere 300 corn pickers as well. I have done business with both and they are reasonable on prices. Hope this helps Tom

Yes the 300 husker used the same bracket.
I plan on making a new bracket. One that is a little shorter so I don't have to remove it when switching to the bean head. The drive coupler for the bean head wont fit with the corn head bracket.

Bowie had one in stock and I'm sending a check. They seemed like nice people. Thanks for the help!

Glad to help. Jim Bowie is great to work with and very reasonable on prices. He has a bunch of 45,55,95 and 105 combines as well as newer machines for parts and hundreds of tractors and a good many implements as well. Tom

I'm needing one of those brackets as well to run a 343 corn head on my 3300. The combine came with the drive sprocket but not the bracket thing......wasn't sure if I had to have it or not. Would any damage happen if you ran it without having the bracket? I will give Bowie a call maybe they will have another one.
