Platform Auger flight extensions

Does anyone have a photo of how the auger flight extensions attach to the auger on Deere quik-tatch? Other than bolts, all of the associated parts are NLA from Deere. Obviously the extension bolts to the existing flight on one end, but what holds them on the other end (nearest the center of the auger)?

I have a parts header and thought I could just cut some flight off the spare header to extend the flight on the one that is going to be used.

This header will be going on a 45 combine which has a very narrow feeder house (around 26-28"). I'm thinking I'm going to need to get the crop flow to the very center to get it to feed properly. They were formerly on a 3300 which has a wider feeder house.

The feederhouse on a 3300 is only 2 3/4" wider than on your 45. I wouldn't think that would be a deal breaker in crop flow for you. However, if the head had been placed on a 3300 after it had been on something bigger (and wider) that would be another story. Odds are you will have to fabricate something. Mike

Mike, maybe you're right. I guess I could wait and see how it feeds. If it doesn't feed well I'll wish I hadn't waited to find out :)

as long as you just remove the outside fingers from the auger, you should be ok. The block off plugs are cheap, and it gives you an excuse to see the condition of the auger finger assembly.

That sounds like a possible plan. We are having to
replace the bearings inside the auger and are
converting over to the 200 series quick change poly
fingers while we are in there for the sake of
running one through the combine since parts are
hard to come-by for the 45.

Who carries the block off plugs? I did not see them
in the PC

wow... that's actually a good question. I did a brief look in Abilene and shoup and didn't see them. checked dealer parts and didn't see them.

I know I have seen them on the heads before. I guess you could always buy the flat steel caps

and weld a small plate over the hole.

The other end of the extension flight is held in place by a piece of 1.5 inch angle iron about 1.5 inches wide. One side of the angle is bolted to the inside end of the extension flight an the other side of the angle is bolted through the auger. Hope this helps.
