Prices of used combines

New combine prices are high, but I'm seeling ads for late model used combines at more than $250,000. Who is going to buy those at those prices?

Small farmers can't get them into small fields in some areas. Depending on acreages, medium size farmers still can't afford used combines in that price range.

I'm thinking that there will be a lot of those machines sitting on the dealer's lots for a long time.

I doubt that the export market would want used machines at those prices.

Wait to see what happens with section 179 extender.

used equipment under $500,000 will look nicer than brand new.

I know what you mean, though. I couldn't justify a $250,000 used combine, nor would I want one that was owned on lease or by a BTO who hired drivers. If they don't care about it, why would they take care of it? That's not what I want to think about when buying something that would have to last long enough to pay for it and start to have it make a return on investment.

I was just reading that the smallest head you can buy for the new New Holland is 20 feet. I'm scared to think where this is headed. (no pun) In 50 years, will I have to buy a 30 foot head? Maybe by then the heads will all fold up or something. Right now, New Holland's grain heads have a built in cart, or transport wheel set that turns the head into it's own cart.
