I had my dealer send someone out to work with me to reinstall the radiator. Younger fella this time. He didn't want any help so I got to sit and freeze my backside off watching. This is the first time I ever had a service call on one of my machines...and I have a LOT of machines. Always do it myself. Just had enough of it this year. So the radiator is back in, fire it up drive it around...no leaks! Drive it around some more...leaks! No sign of overheating or any other damage...I had the fella give it a good going over. Pablo the rad guy stopped by and looked over the radiator. It holds solid pressure when pumped up, but still leaking...heavier leak under pressure. So it is a slow leak and we will keep it topped up and do the small acres we have to do. In the Spring I will pull the rad myself and have him re-core it. The combine will be inside by then with a chain fall and other tools handy. Both techs said to just keep her full and keep an eye out and to get her done for the year!

No, I cannot see the leak. It is dripping at the bottom. Tech thought he could see a leak in the upper left. Rad guy stopped by as stated and put a pressure gauge on it. It has no noticeable drop when pressurized, but the drips increase in frequency. I was there and helped pressure test it in the shop. There were no bubbles anywhere when submerged and put under pressure. NOT real clear where the anti freeze is coming from if not from the rad and why there are more drips when pressure is added. Before you ask, we replaced all the hoses and clamps.

Check the weep hole on your water pump. If the pump is leaking it will run down the bottom radiator hose and drip off of the bottom of the radiator.

Naw...I'll keep her topped and then fix it right in the Spring. Just sitting here thinking. This is the first time in 20+ years with tractors and equipment that I have ever called for service. The holidays, the weather, the fact that it was on the road, not at home and, worst of all, the looming busy season for my other business all conspired to make a coward out of me. SOOOO...in a nutshell, I had a radiator with a leak in it that needed repair. Service guy came out and pulled the rad, I took it in and had it patched, another guy came out and put it back in. $60 for the repair. $3-400 per visit for the IH tech.

And when we are all done?

I have a radiator with a leak in it that needs repair. Now see? That would never have happened if I had manned up and done it myself like I normally do!

Just put a little black pepper from the dinner table in the radiator with it running. It will stop almost instantly. I have a JD 70 that had a major leak, put pepper in it back about 5 years ago, still no leaks. Chris

That is what I wondered. If it might not be a water pump or pin hole in a hose, that makes it look like a radiator leak.
