915 IH Combine

I need to know what years the 915 IH were built and how good a machine were they? I looking at one to buy.

68- 76 I think. I haven't seen any 815 or 915s for a long time. There is a serial number break to use 800 series heads instead of the 700 series.

I've had IH guys tell me the 915 and 815 weren't their best effort. 715 was a better combine and it should be since it was just an updated 403.

the 915 diesel low profile is better than the first 815+915s the main thing is to keep the engine compartment clean then they are good combines

Lots of .15 combines are in the burn row at salvage yards.........something bout a poorly placed oil line by the engine....

I have a low profile 815 diesel. Good combine, lot harder to work on than the 1666. Keeping it as an IH collector. Still run 20-40 acres of corn through it a year.

Did they change that stupid fan setup on the low profiles? That was one of the complaints I heard.
