1937 John deere number 7 combine

I have a number 7 combine and a manual for it as well, I can never find any other info or pictures of it and have never found another like it for parts for it of even seen another, does anyone else have one or know much about them? Pretty neat old machine.

I would think there would be more out there. They were made from 1932 to 1941. The 7A which replaced it would be the rare one.

My dad had one until 1953 when he got a 65 combine. I still have the motor from it. It is used on a slabwood saw at Rollag. I remember riding on the operators platform and looking down at the exhaust manifold and it was red hot even in the daylight. That little Hercules was a very good engine. I have pictures of it in the field but I don't know how to post pictures.

We have what remains of a 17 or 17A. How do you tell the difference? Is there a ID plate on it somewhere? Remember as a child riding "way up there" in the grain bin while Dad operated the controls. It was always pulled with the '37 JD D tractor. Later when it was permanently parked it made a great "ship" with that big wheel that was used to raise/lower the header. I think we may have even had a hand-made pirate flag mounted on it.

What model is this ?? .. A couple yr's before my time....
