F2 steering

I've searched for gleaner steering problems and didn't find anything definitive.

Was running my F2 last night, steering was fine. Then I unloaded and had to squirrel it around to actually unload. Stiff, and I mean stiff, steering the rest of the night. Had occasional problems last year. Did replace the hydraulic filter last year. After replacement, sometimes stiff sometimes not.

Cydectin, did you figure out your K problem from a couple of years ago?

Make absolutely sure your spool valves are really returning to center/neutral. A tiny bit off, and they will screw up everything. They tend to corrode/gum up, and stick. Too much setting between seasons, and then, when operating, some valves don't get exercised. Like the reel lift, when doing corn. All you have to do is bump it a little, it sticks there, and problems!

I had put the new hydraulic filter in backwards and when pressure built up, it blew out the safety disc and it ended up caught in the valve body for the steering. Took bottom plug out and there was the disc in a couple of pieces. Worked fine after that with a new filter installed correctly. Sometimes I wonder about myself. DUH

Was looking at the parts book. Serial # is 47000. The oil for the power steering comes off the left side of the master, on the back of the valve stack. Is there a valve in there that regulates the flow to the steering column. Don't see anything on the parts book.
