IH 1440 and JD 6620

1440 by far easiest to work on. Corn to beans just a few simple adjustments BUT.... from wheat to row crops you need to change the concaves and separating grates. Not a big deal on a 1440 as there not as big and heavy as the 80 series but will take an hour or so and an unpleasant job as you get older if you have back problems. But the serviceability and reliability over a 6620 more than makes up for it.

I the past we've had both a 6600 sidehill and a 1440. I don't remember changing from one crop to another being radically different from one to the other labor wise. The 6600 was a stoughter built machine, but much more labor intensive to work on, pulleys and shafts that were hard to get to, The 1440 is a much simpler machine to operate( I think they have a wider lattitude of adjustment that will do good work than a cylinder machine) They are simpler mecanically. They are also lighter built and the frames will crack. Mike
